THE JOY OF PREGNANCY

Pregnancy can have some major pros, such as the attention, anticipation, and joy of feeling the baby move. But there are some common woes, too – like the persistent need to pee, disrupted sleep, and changes in your body beyond the beloved bump. For nine months, you may be deprived of daily pleasures that you never fully appreciated – until they were gone.

How much joy is enough?

It starts with your feet. All of a sudden, they don’t fit into the shoes you wore comfortably last week. Then your hands and face start to feel puffy, too. Off comes the wedding ring that’s growing tighter by the day. Just when you get a reprieve from morning sickness, your body has thrown you another wrench: swelling.

What you can expect when you are expecting?

  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Changes in libido
  • Soreness of the Breasts
  • Enlargement of the Breasts
  • Frequent Urination
  • Strange Cravings
  • Possible Fatigue
  • Montgomery’s Tubercules
  • Skin Changes
  • Stretch Marks
  • Enlarging Uterus

Colostrum from Breasts

Now we know why man can’t be pregnant, we can also add to that list gaining weight, mood swings, and only mothers know what else.

After 9 month we have the joy of delivery, it is a pain, no doubt. However we are finally coming home with our newborn, and we have the joy of being a mother. Waking up in the middle of the night, changing diapers, cradling the crying baby, little to no sleep for the next year. You may think it will change, eventually, that it will be great seeing your baby grow up. Don’t worry, it will never really change, because you will always be a mother till the end of your life.

So is it really joy?

Some of you might say no, it can’t be joy, but in the end the truth is that, yes it is, even if you are swelling, not sleeping and vomiting for 9 months. From the first day of the pregnancy you are breathing for your baby, you have a reason to better your life, you will never be alone, and you will have someone to live for. Your life will gain new meaning. It may never the same, yet in some ways you know it will be better, because being a mom truly is a JOY.
