Baby Chicken Shawarma

Shawarma comes from the Middle East. Traditionally is cooked by roasting meat on a spit for several hours. When prepared it is served on pita or flatbread and they also add hummus or tahini. The recipe below is more western idea of the dish. Chicken is very good for your children and you. It has many nutritious and health benefits, so don’t wait make this tasty food.

Ingredients for 2 servings :

¼ cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon lemon juice

¼ teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground allspice

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 large boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into small cubes

1 whole-wheat pita bread

STEP 1. In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, salt, allspice, and cinnamon. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes, for best taste left it overnight.

STEP 2. Over medium-high heat, cook the marinated chicken in a large skillet or grill pan until cooked through and no longer pink. Turn heat to low to keep warm.

STEP 3. Serve immediately.

STEP 4. EAT !!!!
